Drivers Update

If we talking about hashrate then answer - No. Waiting fo next driver version for Linux

Thank you for your reply, I don’t know when AMD released the RX5700XT driver for Linux.

Latest HiveOS image contains AMD driver v19.20 which supported 5700 and 5700 XT but hashrate will disappointed you
With latest driver v19.30 not better … Unfortunately

I seem to have already written on this topic, I found this date on the site: Release Date: July 07th 2019

Found on this site? https://www.ixbt.com/news/2019/07/01/radeon-rx-5700-rx-5700-xt.html

The Linux driver has been updated yesterday. Don’t know if it helps?

We already working with it. Not ideal but better then previous )

I often get errors when updating GPU drivers. For me, its easier to get the latest drivers from hiveos. Takes about 2-3 minutes with SSD. Probably longer with USB.

Login with SSH or “Hive shell start” and update to latest GPU drivers with the command:
hive-replace -y http://download.hiveos.farm/[email protected]
(find the URL to newest release here: http://download.hiveos.farm/)

To be clear, this does not only update the drivers but reinstalls the whole OS, with “almost” latest drivers included.

And a last tip for everyone with issues. Remove all overclocking and start overclocking after you have a stable and working system.

Seems someone wants get max post counts by one post by copy-pasting it everywhere in forum

@HaloGenius that single thing “reinstalling” everything has saved me many hours of work… so i just want to help more people. I think i put same tip in 5 threads. Hope i havent ruined your day

The AMD 19.30-934563 driver is currently updated to work, but it is not possible to overclock and detect temperature.

from notes for PhoenixMiner v4.8b release

About the AMD Linux drivers 19.30-934563:

These drivers finally fix the RX5700 TLB problem but they are not perfect:

  • Most of the hardware monitoring options don’t work for RX5700 cards - even the temperature is not reported correctly. Only the power usage, fan speed, and core voltage are reported.
  • Almost all hardware control options don’t work for RX5700 cards either with the notable exception of power limit, so the only way to avoid wasting power is to use -powlim -45 or something like this. The fan control options doesn’t work either so you will be relying on auto-fan.

any update on these my rx 5700 xfx doesnt mine ?

Are you combining Pal & Legacy platform cards?
if that’s the case check this: https://devtalk.blender.org/t/unable-to-have-two-gpus-rx-5700-xt-rx-580-recognized-by-blender-simultaneously/10278

By patching the driver clinfo managed to detect both platforms and I can mine my rx5500xt with phoenixminer although hiveOs recognises it as “Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD/ATI] Device 7340 (rev c5)”

Hello all, I recently updated Nvidia drivers on my rig and OC settings are not working. I reinstalled Nvidia settings, but no luck in over clocking. I also uninstalled and purged drivers and settings and reinstalled the drivers using nvidia-driver-update command. Still cannot over clock. I get the following errors when I try to apply the overclock. Could someone help me here?

thx bro, after miner kept saying no opencl platform, I found my the solution myself. then found your post.

I have a problem too…I always get error after amd driver update:

Error! Could not locate dkms.conf file.
File: does not exist.
WARNING: amdgpu dkms failed for running kernel

at the end of the installation. it´s the same error for every driver version…at the end I tried to re-install 19.30 again, but same error. how can you successfully update your amd driver?

when I run the command dkms status it says the same error. do you guys have these file and where is it located? is there a link missing in my installation or what´s going on?

I also face the same error while trying to install 20.40.
Error! Could not locate dkms.conf file.
File: does not exist.
WARNING: amdgpu dkms failed for running kernel

Have you found the workaround?

So, I think it is time for the HiveOS team to upgrade the AMD drivers. With the release of the latest Navi cards I believe version 20.40 will resolve issues with some miners (LolMiner for instance).

FYI - I am proficient with Ubuntu server and failed at updating the AMDGPU-Pro drivers. There was a read-write error during the installation (even though I was running as root) and it essentially required me to re-image the drive. SO- if you are going to try to update the AMD drivers yourself take a page from my book and make a USB thumb drive with HiveOS first so you can run on that while you fix your primary boot drive.
