What about msi z170a pro carbon motherboard and hive os? The system returns a kernel panic on booting process from a usb flash drive (lexar or sandisk) as you can see bellow. So, are there specific settings for this mobo that I have to apply?

uefi or legacy is the only selection that i have to select for usb drive
this mobo boots from nvoc and simplemining without any problem
if I try to boot UEFI my system freezes
which GPU are you using? disable pci-e gpu and use integrated gpu. set integrated gpu as main and plug monitori in igpu.
i am on the same boat. amd rx 580. cant get it to work on msi mobo
